Newly engaged Ashlee Simpson showed off her engagement ring on Wednesday, while cuddling up to fiancé Pete Wentz at the Ritz-Carlton in NYC.

Even though fiancé Pete Wentz denied that they were expecting a baby together, the rumours that Ashlee Simpson is with child haven't died - in fact, they've only grown. The singer appeared on MTV's TRL on Tuesday, and said "Some things you want to keep personal. I just think it's an inappropriate question to ask any woman. For me, that's something that I didn't ever want to respond to, because I think it's an inappropriate question." The singer, who was on the show to promote her new album - Bittersweet World -, was asked by an audience member to show off her engagement ring. Ashlee showed the crowd a diamond eternity band she has been sporting for a while, telling them that "it's getting sized. You'll see it soon. It's pretty." When asked about how Pete proposed, the singer remained mum, "That's all so sacred, I need to keep that to myself." Following her TRL appearance, Ashlee headed over to Virgil's for some lunch.

Denied: Pete Wentz Says Ashlee 'Not Pregnant'

With Us Weekly announcing that recently engaged couple Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz are expecting a baby, the man himself decided it was time to set the record straight. "There is a witch hunt for people to be pregnant whenever they get engaged in Hollywood. This is all news to me. I can't wait for the story about how I'm really in a gay relationship and this is all just a cover ... I mean really, this is crazy ... I mean we're engaged, that's true, and happy about it," Wentz wrote to MTV News yesterday. So, no Baby FallOut Boy!

Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz of FallOut Boy have announced their engagement. "We know there has been a lot of speculation recently about Pete and I, and we wanted our fans to be the first to know, because you guys are the best. Yes, we are thrilled to share that we are happily engaged. Thank you for all of your support and well wishes – it means the world to us. We consider this to be a very private matter, and we wanted to be the first to tell you and to hear it straight from us," Ashlee posted on friendsorenemies.com. The pair have been linked since fall 2006.
